Howdy minions, more quickie news. There is another misinformation rumor going around about the Switch 2. People are saying that the Switch 2 can’t do anything without its day one update. It’s speculated this is because Nintendo wanted to prevent leaks. I am a little guilty of this as well. I said it was missing some functionality, likely to prevent leaks. It was a guess honestly. So I’m sorry for that, thankfully I’m just a small blogger and small YouTuber and this hasn’t hurt anyone.
Anyway, the Switch 2 simply cannot run anything backwards compatible until the Day One update. This is likely why Nintendo didn’t give out review systems. They did say that review copies wouldn’t be possible because a Day One update makes a huge difference on its functionality that might impact scores. Makes total sense, if I was a reviewer and I was sent the system and backwards compatibility didn’t work like advertised then it would negatively effect my score. It would also impact many people’s purchasing decision. This is why misinformation needs to be corrected.
The Switch 2 prior to launch can play Switch 2 games but it cannot play Switch 1 games. This is because the backwards compatibility updates aren’t done yet. They’ll be available Day One. Considering 99% of you won’t have access to one early, this won’t matter. It’s just more baseless rumors, that even I fell for, spread by haters looking for literally anything to justify their hatred of Nintendo. They’re making stuff up like there isn’t already a ton to like about Nintendo.
List of legit reasons to hate Nintendo:
- Emulation locked behind a subscription service instead of letting people buy what they want when they want.
- Newer emulation locked behind an expansion pack.
- Online play is peer to peer, you’re paying a sub to use your own net.
- Nintendo files DMCA takedowns against fan projects like Pokémon Uranium.
- Nintendo used to file copyright strikes against YouTubers playing Nintendo games.
- Nintendo then tried to make it so only people a part of Nintendo’s Content Creator Program could post Nintendo Gameplay.
- Then they failed to respond to any applications then decided to just let anyone do it.
- Nintendo has filed DMCA strikes against perfectly legal emulation as a scare tactic.
- Nintendo has bought out people making emulation software because it’s easier than suing.
- Gary Bowser is an Indentured Servant for Nintendo because he hacked, on top of that he has to give Nintendo 30% of his salary until he pays them back. It will take him 470 years to pay back what he owes.
- Nintendo sues rom hosting sites but still refuses to put the majority of it’s most popular games on its emulation service.
- Pokemon Scarlet runs like garbage and looks like garbage.
- Nintendo is trying to kill fandom terminology by co-opting or changing the language fans use. Example: “Starter Pokemon” being called “First Partner”.
- Nintendo refuses to appeal to hardcore fans but still wants hardcore fans money by using Nostalgia Bait.
- Nintendo hates Nuzlockes.
- Starfox as a series has more remakes of the first game than unique entries.
- $80 games is real whacko s**t.
That’s just what I can think of off the top of my fuzzy little dome piece. I don’t get why we have to fabric all of these reasons to hate Nintendo when they give of plenty of real reasons. People are haters first and look for reasons to justify that feeling after the fact. Some are mad for no reason or straight up the wrong reason. Like where is the rage for what they’re doing to emulation and Gary? These people are just fair weather haters, they hate when it’s easy. Then a year from now they’ll all get the Switch 2 lite or just disappear from the net. A real Nintendo Fan is Nintendo’s biggest hater.
